  • Astha Sansthan

Astha Sansthan's anointed task is to help the people organize, expand their capacities, and equip themselves for the struggle [against the deprivations in which they live]. To do this they take the Organizational Approach. Astha helps poor and deprived people organize into units, armies of justice, and then trains and equips their soldiers. At present Astha is working to build up and strength the People's Organizations in Rajasthan who are fighting for their rights, livelihood resources, and justice for past atrocities.

Astha's main priorities are Tribal People's land rights, displacementm fighting against atrocities, economic and livelihood issues, women's empowerment and equality, widows and other women's issues, and a whole other laundry list of things. Astha institutes training and organization strategems in order to build capacities in organizations who work in these areas.

Since Astha Sansthan opened its doors to the Holdeen India Program in 2000 we have given them grants coming to the amount of $0. But they have submitted a proposal to us in this very year for 16,78,000 Rs. though it remains to be seen how much we will give to them
