The Elorans

< Pascale > I love how most people make fools of themselves over Elorans. You learn alot about a person when he is standing around gapejawed. The carters passing by the around the Hall of Delights put blinkers on themselves as well as the horses.

< Tarazelle > I love how Elorans think they are automatically important simply because they turn heads. I particularly enjoyed the time I ran an Eloran Knight through while he was making his grand entrance.

Sights to set the mind afire, the source of uncountable of infatuations and lusts, the Elorans are the personification of beauty and hope. These shining souls inhabit the cities of all other races, integrating seamlessly and enjoying careers as actors, diplomats, and statesmen.

Personality: Elorans tend to be upbeat and hopeful. They often seem naïve, however this is not because they truly are but rather because they maintain such an optimistic attitude that it is difficult to believe that they truly live in the real world. It is a common assumption that Elorans cannot be evil. This fact is far from the truth, sometimes their cheerful exterior and optimistic outlook hides a black soul.

Physical Description: Because of the widely varying appearances of the Dagati it is impossible for many to believe that one race could appeal to them all. This illusion can only last until one sees an Eloran. To everyone, regardless of race, Elorans seem to exhibit a combination of natural grace and aesthetic appeal which is always associated with true beauty. To be fair there is a far amount of magic in their looks, they have a passive magical talent in which their features are magically changed to suit the standards of beauty of the beholder, subsequently that person will always see that Eloran in the same way. Though the effect is well known only the Trein’lae and other Elorans may see through it. The only way to ascertain the true features of an Eloran is to ask a Trein’lae or Eloran or view them with a true seeing spell. Some Eloran rogues take advantage of this fact in hindering their own detection, since other than height and general build all other salient descriptions will not hold true for another. Notwithstanding this, the sight of an Eloran is not something one is likely to forget and they tend to stand out in any crowd.

Alignment: Elorans definitely tend towards the chaotic. They mere fact of their presence causes chaos amongst those they surround. They delight in the chaos, in shaking things up and leaving everyone behind them changed.

Effects of War: For what is regarded as such a peaceful race the Elorans suffered less than most from the war than most. Because they were spread out amongst all the cities of the Old World they did not suffer too greatly when a specific area was subjugated. Furthermore their charisma and diplomacy allowed many of them to escape to worst of the Kaelra’s attentions. Though many Elorans were involved in the resistance movement it was usually, with a few exceptions, as spies or in other such secret endeavors. Thus for most of the war only the Eloran collaborators were known and as such they gained a poor reputation that lasts to this day.

Known Eloran Lands: Nowadays Elorans live much as they did before the war. They are scattered evenly across the lands with perhaps a greater percentage in the northern isles, as a result of the good relations they have typically maintained with the Kaeda. Elorans tend to blend into the society of their host city, and they almost always live in the city. Outwardly they adopt the lifestyle of the race around them, never accentuating their differences. However they tend not to intermarry with the races around them because of their low numbers. The Elorans know they would quickly fade into the races around them if many of them decided to marry those of other races.

Religion: Elorans worship Glyrae Hopebringer. Their temples to her lie wherever there are significant numbers of her worshippers and from dusk to dawn every day there are tremendous parties. Elorans consider their mission in life to be spreading joy, which they do by their mere presence. This is the reason that many Elorans become entertainers or run festhalls and inns.

Language: The Eloran language is a beautiful musical tongue that conveys the emotional content of any word, more so than its meaning. Thus many songs and ballads are written in Eloran, even though most cannot understand them they nevertheless realize the deeper emotions behind the song.

They just want to get away from the press of people they were born into. There tend to be less Eloran sorcerers than is normal because of their tendency to shy away from intermarriage with other races, seeing as how Sorcerers are always those of Pevishan descent.

Notable Rituals: FivedayIt is the custom for Elorans and their families to go to the local temple of Glyrae every fifth day. This is not because of any reason of piety, though some services take place, but rather as a means for the Elorans in the community to meet each other and, most importantly, arrange marriages. At the temples the Elorans feast, sing, play, dance, or otherwise have fun as is their want. This is the main means by which the Elorans manage to maintain their racial identity since they always live amongst other races.
